Description
This was a custom handle commission and is not for sale but was a great project to work on. Brazilian Ebony has become a frequently ordered wood for my commissions and is a fascinating wood. It is vibrantly orange when you cut into it, and it quickly oxidizes and turns very dark brown until it’s almost black. If you were to cut it and just leave it there it would be nearly black in about two weeks. When I finish these handles though I give them multiple coats of linseed and beeswax oil, which prolongs the oxidation. These handles slowly turn black over the course of about two months. The 165mm Santoku in one of my other listings is what this handle will look like in two months
