Description

Artist Statement

The original art for this print was a 22″x30″ watercolor and ink painting with gold leaf. This piece is about the space between – between worlds, dimensions, waking and sleeping dreams, awareness and the subconscious. It is an invitation to move beyond the physical reality in which our bodies are rooted, to life the veil and know your full power, to resonate with the stardust and universal energy that flows through every bit of existence.

The bottom foreground of the painting is covered in poppies, fireweed and hemlock – plants of dreams, renewal, and death. Like breath, our connection to the earth can be a gateway to awaken, as can plant medicine. The visual density signifies abundance, and the ground and flowers represent the form dimension in which our bodies are firmly planted. The flowers are drawn in ink in great detail, down to the folds in the poppy petals and small flowers that comprise the hemlock.

In this painting the inking represents the rules of the physical world, and as you move upward in the painting, the ink slowly gives way, transitioning out of the painting entirely once you hit the solar eclipse.

The fox, before it became characterized as a trickster, was known in many ancient cultures as a guide between worlds and within dreams, and was seen as a symbol of luck. The solar eclipse, a catalyst for transformation, features a dark purple moon. The moon knows our shadow, and purple is the color of our intuition and associated with the third-eye.

I chose Aspen trees not just for my region, but for eyes in the trunks and the way that leaves shimmer in the wind, and their fleeting brilliance as the seasons turn. They eyes ask, do you see? The painting beckons, will you accept my invitation?

About Giclee

Giclee signifies the highest quality print available, and is known for unparalleled detail in reproducing orginal artwork. This piece is printed with pigment inks on a 100% cotton rag, acid-free, lignin-free, fine art paper, which I personally picked for its rich color rendering and toothy texture, to mirror the feeling of the original painting.

This reproduction is archival (museum quality) and will stay true to its original rendering well beyond the point at which other prints may start to fade. To ensure the longevity of this piece, it should be framed behind glass.
